A summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking Data Center Technicians to support its customers in multiple locations. This position requires the successful candidate to report to a site location and support the overall availability and reliability of data center operations. Candidates should be willing to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and nights to ensure global data centers operate at the highest levels of reliability for customers.

Key job responsibilities

  • Perform server rack installations, hardware break-fix on various components, troubleshoot network issues, and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability, escalating to senior technicians and management as needed/required.

  • Serve as a primary contact point for both internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors.

  • Participate in on-call duties and scheduled maintenance and change management activities.

  • Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on your analysis of operational issues.

  • Help train and onboard new team members.

A day in the life

You will be required to work shift work that will include days/nights/weekends/holidays. Traveling within and outside of regional work area is required. You will be responsible for having a reliable personal vehicle and valid driver's license to travel within the regional work area, as company transportation will not be provided.

As a Data Center Technician professional, you have industry-leading technical abilities and demonstrate a breadth of knowledge while taking ownership of technical issues brought by your customer base, engaging other teams when needed to drive resolution. You solve problems at their root and step back to understand the broader context, maintaining service level agreements through the implementation of proactive issue detection and reporting.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience
  • 1+ years of computer networking experience
  • High school or equivalent diploma

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
  • Experience with AWS ecosystem
