About the role

SB Energy is looking for a Project Manager to lead and drive success on new and ongoing, medium-to-large-sized construction capital projects including Data Centers. This on-site role covers all aspects of a construction project and requires at least five years of hyperscale or colocation-provider data center experience. The position demands autonomy and independent discretion in project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design team, contractors, operations teams, and clients.
  • Submit monthly project financial reporting including forecasting and cash-flow.
  • Review monthly contractor billing and perform job walks to substantiate progress.
  • Develop, lead, maintain, and assist with contract negotiation of new and existing vendors.
  • Lead input and delivery of work products from internal team members to ensure new data center spaces align with project requirements, customer requirements, engineering standards, applicable codes, and specifications.
  • Develop, document, and drive lessons learned, process improvements, cost, and schedule savings initiatives throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with Operations to coordinate design criteria with budgetary issues and ongoing maintenance of existing facilities.
  • Perform and/or supervise weekly safety walks to ensure contractors follow SB Energy EHS policies.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the importance of mission-critical facility operation.
  • Translate job requirements to execution with minimal supervision.
  • Lead RFP development and overall project budgeting.
  • Oversee pre-bid planning, coordination, and lead multiple projects/deliverables.
  • Lead all design phases and documents, working internally with stakeholder groups and subject matter experts.
  • Engage with customers for sales and fulfillment of project requirements.
  • Coordinate and supervise design-build and design-bid-build contractors.
  • Oversee physical construction activities on site.
  • Coordinate logistical planning for all owner-furnished, contractor-installed (OFCI) equipment.
  • Lead commissioning of critical systems integration across new data centers.
  • Hand off physical data center and project documents to operations.
  • Manage prime contractor safety performance.
  • Manage project scope, safety, schedule, stakeholders, and budget.
  • Drive all aspects of construction including pre-construction, design development, permitting and entitlements, competitive bid process, team selection, construction oversight, commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Build business cases and bring projects from concept through internal project approval.
  • Implement project quality controls and safety programs through an in-depth understanding of partner contracts and design documents.
  • Lead the SB Energy site safety program and provide weekly HRA site walk reports (two per week).
  • Act as a leader and mentor to SB Energy team members.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, a similar field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience leading construction projects of increasing complexity (7-10 years preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of hyperscale or colocation-provider data center experience.
  • Experience in CSA (civil, structural, architectural) and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) construction management is required.
  • Multi-prime or alternate procurement delivery experience is preferred.
  • Procore, Cx Alloy, and P6 experience preferred.

Pay

The base pay range for this role is $140,000 - $170,000. We tailor each offer based on unique skills, experience, location, and market benchmarks—while ensuring internal parity across our teams. Total compensation may also include a discretionary annual bonus, equity grants, and a comprehensive health and wellness benefits package.
