About the Role
Carrier is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to oversee data center construction projects, focusing on the startup, commissioning, and field modifications of Carrier air- and water-cooled chillers. This role involves collaboration with internal and external teams, including engineering, factory operations, field service, commissioning authorities, general contractors, and subcontractors. Primary job sites are located in the West South-Central region of the United States, including Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and surrounding areas. Travel from a nearby regional home location is acceptable, though extensive travel outside this geography may be required.
Responsibilities
- Lead startup, commissioning, and field modification processes for Carrier air- and water-cooled chillers in newly constructed data centers.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, ensuring schedules and budgets are met.
- Track and review key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor project success.
- Conduct progress meetings with stakeholders, addressing design, material delivery, and labor schedules.
- Ensure all projects meet or exceed booked profit margin goals.
- Work with project coordination to order and track all chiller parts needed for warranty execution.
- Collaborate with sales, prime contractors, and end-users to fulfill project scope and deliverables.
- Serve as the primary liaison representing Carrier between the customer, commissioning authority, general contractor, and subcontractors.
- Provide professional, timely resolution for customer concerns, ensuring satisfaction with all aspects of project execution.
- Interpret and apply mechanical, electrical, and architectural drawings to ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Ensure adherence to industry codes, standards, and project specifications.
- Apply working knowledge of Building Automation System (BAS) integration to ensure proper controls functionality.
- Manage the change order process, preventing scope creep and maintaining project integrity.
- Accurately forecast monthly revenue by estimating project completion costs.
- Manage project documentation, including warranty processing and factory-generated service information in collaboration with the Service Engineering team.
- Maintain rigorous job safety standards across all projects.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of experience in project management coordinating project schedules, deliverables, and activities involving multiple stakeholders, contractors, vendors, and/or customers; OR 4+ years of experience supporting mechanical, electrical, controls, commissioning, construction, or field service projects.
- 2+ years reading and interpreting blueprints and technical mechanical systems documents.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 60% of the time within the USA as required by business needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering; or a Master's degree/MBA.
- Data center industry experience with water- or air-cooled chillers.
- Commercial HVAC expertise, including centrifugal chillers, Cooling Distribution Unit systems, and airside equipment.
- Project Management Professional certification.
- Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification or experience with Building Automation Systems.
- Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong ability to build rapport and trust with customers through active listening and effective solutions.
Pay
The annual salary for this position is between $96,000.00 and $192,000.00. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
