Data Center Project Manager
About the Role
Join Black Box as a Data Center Project Manager and lead the construction of the largest data center in the United States. This role offers the opportunity to shape the digital backbone of the future, overseeing high-visibility projects that impact next-generation connectivity and cloud innovation. You will drive operational excellence, manage cross-functional collaboration, and set industry benchmarks for modern data center deployment.
Black Box is a global leader in IT solutions and technology integration, known for delivering complex projects with precision, innovation, and integrity. This is a contract position with potential for extension or permanent hire, based in Bowling Green, OH, with up to 15% travel as needed.
Responsibilities
- Project Leadership & Execution: Lead day-to-day construction management using PMO standards. Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring alignment with scope, timeline, and budget. Oversee all project phases and manage change events with best practices.
- Safety, Quality & Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and site standards. Ensure quality control through documentation, tracking, and reporting. Maintain adherence to construction technology platforms, building codes, and industry standards.
- Financial & Contract Management: Support cost forecasting, budget analysis, and financial reporting using construction accounting principles. Manage contracting methods (lump sum, cost-plus, GMP, design-build, time & material). Monitor vendor performance, approve invoices, and track expenditures.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and leadership. Communicate project status, risks, milestones, and priorities. Prepare presentations and lead briefings for diverse audiences.
- Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement: Anticipate issues, mitigate risks, and resolve conflicts. Use data-driven insights to optimize project performance. Foster a culture of innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Proficient in using data and analytics for decision-making.
- Extensive knowledge of construction safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Strong understanding of estimating engineering principles and construction methodologies.
- Experience with change management processes and documentation.
- Solid grasp of construction accounting, cost forecasting, and budgeting.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-driven with adaptability to evolving project needs.
- Proficiency in tools such as MS Office, Bluebeam, Procore, and Textura.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years of construction industry experience in a management or leadership role.
- Prior experience managing large data center or structured cabling construction projects (highly preferred).
- Experience with multiple contract and delivery models (GMP, design-build, fixed price, etc.).
- Preferred certifications: OSHA 30, BICSI RCDD, BICSI RTPM, PMI PMP.

Schedule
Standard site hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM. Daily onsite presence required.
