Data Center Project Engineer, Data Center Construction
About the role
As a Data Center Project Engineer, you will be part of a creative, diverse team tasked with solving fascinating problems constructing Amazon Data Centers. Our data centers are industry examples of energy-efficient, cost-effective designs. You will work alongside partner teams such as Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning to build Data Centers that directly support our Customers. You will support the teams that build some of the most interesting electrical and mechanical systems in the world, interacting daily with construction managers and stakeholders on-site to ensure fast, high-quality delivery of data center construction.
The Data Center Project Engineer will own communication coordination with vendors, information workflow, and document management, including requests for information (RFI), change orders, reports, and schedule updates. At Amazon, we leverage unique opportunities by owning everything from design review to construction bidding, execution, and final hand-off to customers. This position requires that the candidate selected be a US citizen.
Responsibilities
- Establish communication and coordination across a data center region’s general contractors, stakeholders, and internal teams (e.g., site access procedures, document access locations).
- Maintain a tracking system for design changes, RFIs, and change orders, including dashboards for regional leadership review with priority and due date status.
- Request and review Method of Procedures (MOPs) for proper detail, necessity, and risk.
- On-board new vendors for badging and orientation.
- Update project management software with milestone dates, correspondence, and documents.
- Monitor delivery of owner-furnished material to the site.
- Compile and store construction data from vendors.
- Manage checklists, including substantial completion checks, safety, and quality.

Requirements
- 5+ years of Microsoft Office experience (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- 2+ years of general contractor and vendor management work (e.g., request for proposals, bidding, change orders, quality control, RFI/submittal tracking) associated with construction and project execution.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent engineering science OR 7 years of related construction management experience in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of data center or mission-critical facilities experience (e.g., hospital, military facility, public safety facility).
Pay
USA, MD, Laurel - $96,000.00 - $166,300.00 USD annually.
