About the role

AWS is seeking a Senior Data Center Project Architect to join its design team in Herndon, VA. This role works on the most challenging problems, supporting all AWS data centers and ensuring continuous access to the innovation relied upon by customers.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate conceptual designs and create/maintain project documentation before, during, and after construction.
  • Maintain Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for architectural elements.
  • Review and inform design RFPs.
  • Manage external design consultants through the design and construction process.
  • Coordinate with internal and external Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, and Cabling design engineers.
  • Effectively communicate design standards to internal and external project partners.
  • Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
  • Think outside the box to find innovative solutions prior to and during the construction process to reduce costs without negative impacts on quality or reliability.
  • Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction reviews, and interfacing with design consultants.

Requirements

  • Professional Engineer License
  • 2+ years of data center or mission critical facilities experience
  • NCARB recognized architecture license
  • 7+ years of design experience in commercial / industrial / other complex technical projects
  • 4+ years leading sub-consultants and project teams
  • Solid working proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite
  • Ability to travel internationally

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in building codes, regulations, and standards including IBC or equivalent, NFPA, & IFC

Skills

  • Experience in designing resilient, cost-effective DC facilities
  • Experience in managing external design consultants
  • Experience in coordinating with internal and external design engineers
  • Experience in communicating design standards to project partners
  • Experience in managing multiple fast-paced projects
  • Experience in finding innovative solutions to reduce costs without compromising quality or reliability

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $116,800.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually.

Schedule

Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
