Key Responsibilities
- Monitor critical environmental parameters such as data center IT equipment condition, aging, issues and response coordination.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external contractors, service providers, and vendors.
- Schedule service visits and supervise on-site work.
- Track, receive, and document hardware, servers, cables, and spare parts.
- Enforce physical security policies, manage badge access for personnel, and monitor surveillance or entry logs.
- Serve as a first responder for facility alarms, hardware failures, or network disruptions.
- Coordinate with IT and mechanical teams to quickly mitigate downtime.
- Attend scheduled calls, determine project requirements as advised by stakeholders, determine project materials, order materials and oversee prompt delivery and availability.
- Peer review cabling diagrams submitted by stakeholders and identify and escalate issues.
- Coordinate power requirements and installation.
- Distribute related inhouse work assignments.
- Track project status and escalate concerns and issues.
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Facilities Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience: Typically 2–5 years of experience in data center operations, IT support, or critical facilities management.
- Hard Skills: Working knowledge of IT hardware, data center physical layer cabling, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Soft Skills: Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities. Strong verbal and written communication skills for dealing with vendors, technicians, and stakeholders.
- Certifications: Valued, but not essential, credentials include CompTIA Server+, Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP), or Data Center Certified Associate (DCCA).
