About the role

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. The Data Center Physical Security Specialist supports all AWS data centers and ensures the safety and security of personnel, customer data, and critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Own the execution of multiple security disciplines in support of fast-moving operations and manage a wide array of projects designed to protect personnel, customer data, and critical infrastructure from insider and external threats.
  • Manage onsite security forces.
  • Ensure consistent deployment of all required security policies and procedures and participate in re-occurring site audits and reviews and testing new security technologies.
  • Drive operational security excellence in several separate facilities located within a short driving distance.
  • Interface and direct vendors involved in new security construction, repairs, daily security operations and patrols, and planning.
  • Extract metrics and observe improvements by looking at hard data. Make suggestions on improving electronic surveillance and physical access controls.
  • Direct efforts to educate data center personnel on false alarm reductions. Write and implement security process and procedures. Write reports, create presentations and communicate with management on the status of physical security operations.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of overseeing security operations and working with security vendors/contractors experience
  • 2+ years of project management experience
  • 3+ years of process improvement procedures experience
  • 3+ years of vendor management, or 3+ years of relevant discipline work experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 5+ years of security service, loss prevention, asset protection, investigations, or law enforcement experience
  • 2+ years of root cause analysis and troubleshooting or problem solving experience
  • 2+ years of work in identifying security issues and risks, and developing mitigation plans experience
  • 4+ years writing detailed reports
  • Familiarity with security program automation, implementation and various Access/Intrusion Control Systems
  • Ability to interpret program objectives, develop project schedules and manage adherence to established timetables
