Data Center Operator / System Technician - Floating Shift

US Citizenship Required. This is an on-site position in Rensselaer, NY, with less than 10% travel required.

About the role

We are seeking a Data Center Operator to support various health programs by monitoring mainframe and mid-range systems, as well as disaster recovery. This is a floating position covering future needs, with a requirement to obtain a Full BI security clearance. The role involves shift work, including day or night shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) on a rotating schedule: Thursday through Saturday and every other Wednesday, or Sunday through Tuesday and every other Wednesday.

Responsibilities

• Provide monitoring, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting support for information systems, applications, and related peripheral hardware.
• Perform hourly and daily system checks in accordance with prescribed schedules.
• Keep the task manager informed of any unusual conditions or problems encountered during daily duties.
• Monitor systems and networks within the HPCMP Enterprise using Unix/Linux workstations; Windows systems may also be used.
• Use interactive tools and processes to determine system and network health.
• Generate trouble tickets for tier 2 and 3 support; may route calls to product line, application, or system support specialists.
• Maintain and update record and tracking databases.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• 0+ years of experience with Mainframe applications (ZEEK, ZEBB, SA, CA, and/or IBM products) in an operations team environment.
• Enterprise IT proficiency.
• Familiarity with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Exposure to or ability to learn: JCL (Job Control Language), ATL (Automated Tape Libraries), and tape media.
• Ability and willingness to work any day or night shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM).
• Ability and willingness to obtain a Full BI background investigation clearance.

Pay

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $20.24 and $26.45, depending on experience, geographic location, and contractual requirements.

Schedule

• 12.5-hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM.
• Rotating schedule: Thursday through Saturday and every other Wednesday, or Sunday through Tuesday and every other Wednesday.
• Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
