Responsibilities

Demonstrated experience managing Data Center Operations similar in size, complexity, dynamics, availability and scope to that of the contract. This includes:

  • Demonstrated experience managing mainframe and server physical and logical security, disaster recovery failover, business continuity, and batch job scheduling in mainframe and distributed (i.e., Windows and UNIX) operating system environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large, complex server environments containing over 2,000 physical servers that host over 15,000 physical or virtual servers.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing server consolidation and virtualization efforts on Windows, Solaris, and Red Hat Linux in a production operational environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing enterprise class storage across server technologies (e.g., Windows, Solaris, Red Hat, VMware) implementing operational best practices, provisioning standards, and storage migrations and optimizations.
  • Demonstrated experience with implementing ITIL standards and processes in a large, highly available, dynamic data center operation.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a 7x24x365 Data center that monitors a national service and manages faults and failures proactively and reactively.
  • Demonstrated experience managing IBM Z10 mainframe with z/OS Operating System.
  • Demonstrated experience translating between business requirements and technical implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience with systems engineering in the context of a large, complex infrastructure.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other scientific or technical discipline directly related to this labor category (or additional equivalent experience in lieu of a degree)
  • 10+ years of working experience managing server and support services, including at least 3 years in an IT outsourcing environment to manage Contractor Personnel performance of the Services.
  • ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation Certified
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to interact professionally with executives, customers, vendors and department staff
  • Project management experience is a plus
  • U.S. Citizenship and background investigation is required; you must have a current clean financial background.

Pay

The likely salary range for this position is $128,039 - $173,229. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

Schedule

This is a full-time position, scheduled to work 40 hours per week, onsite in Washington DC 8-5 M-F, with flexibility to support issues or planned activities after hours, weekends and holidays as needed. Less than 10% travel is required.
