AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This team supports all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

About the role

As a Data Center Manager, you will manage a team that maintains cloud infrastructure for global data center operations. You will solve complex technical challenges, drive operational excellence, and support Amazon's rapid data center growth. This role involves managing high-performing technical teams, optimizing processes, and building strong relationships with internal teams and external vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop teams of engineers, providing technical and leadership expertise to ensure highest levels of performance
  • Maintain existing data centers and assist in bringing new data centers online
  • Continuously improve processes and procedures
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors
  • Liaise with internal teams and management groups
  • Ensure adherence to and exceed local health and safety standards in all data centers
  • Create and maintain metrics for data center operations and use them to drive positive changes
  • Assist in implementing service methodologies including incident, problem, change, and capacity management
  • Support data centers in various operational stages, including potential travel to established locations for training

Requirements

  • Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed
  • Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training or until assigned facility is operational
  • Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and operational status of assigned facility
  • Candidates must be able to travel (over 50 miles) or commute (less than 50 miles) to active data center sites as required

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of Information Technology (IT) experience, or a Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent
  • 3+ years of operations and on-call support for data center facilities, mission-critical plants, or production facilities
  • 5+ years of computer hardware experience, including troubleshooting and repairing

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of data center experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Experience conducting interviews and making effective hiring decisions

Pay

Base salary range: $96,900.00 - $169,700.00 USD annually (USA, MS, Canton). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.

Effective May 15, 2017, logical access to the AWS GovCloud region is restricted to Amazon employees who are U.S. Citizens. GovCloud may not be accessed from outside of the United States.
