Data Center Operations Manager , ATL DCO

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a fast-paced technology company and a leader in data centers. This position ensures overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. The successful candidate will lead teams in hardware and network diagnostics, physical repair, and participate in an on-call rotation. Responsibilities include creating strategies, mentoring teams, sponsoring projects, and proposing technical solutions in a 24/7 operational environment.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, supporting data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. This role collaborates with diverse teams of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers to maintain high standards for safety, security, and capacity at the lowest possible cost.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize and assign trouble tickets to data center technicians and operators.
- Manage the performance of diverse teams of data center operation professionals across different locations.
- Develop and drive career planning for data center teams.
- Lead recruiting and onboarding efforts.
- Conduct performance management activities for team members.
- Manage and deliver mid-size projects.
- Ensure effective and efficient day-to-day data center operations, including queue management, 24/7 shift arrangement, and hardware logistics.
- Learn and become a subject matter expert across all aspects of data center operations.
- Monitor and drive all operational KPIs and metrics to ensure IT capacity availability.
- Inspire and guide improvement in team processes, technology innovation, and automation.
- Manage Large Scale Events (outages) and act as the call leader.
- Manage and improve workflows and throughput for data center operations.
- Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and required SLAs.
- Maintain on-call schedule coordination and attendance.
- Create documentation, innovate solutions, and participate in site-level project work.
- Fix complex problems within the data center space.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of Information Technology (IT) experience, or a Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent.
- 2+ years of people management experience.
- 2+ years of operations and on-call support for data center facilities, mission-critical plants, or production facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of computer hardware experience, including troubleshooting and repairing.
- Experience in technical writing in a relevant field.
- Experience with system management tools and client/server environments.
- Certification in an applicable field like A+, Net+, Sec+, CCNA, LPIC, Linux+, AWS certification, or A+ or CND (Certified Network Defender) or Network+ or Security+.
Pay
Base salary range: $78,400.00 - $137,300.00 USD annually for this position in Hampton, GA, USA. The final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Additional compensation may include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
