Data Center Manager, Rack Decommissioning Team

Key job responsibilities

  • Prioritize and assign tasks to data center technicians and operators, project management, coaching, and creating documentation.
  • Manage inbound capacity from receiving through deployment stages.
  • Manage the installation network and cabling infrastructure in a data center environment.
  • Guide, train and educate staff on the best practices related to all service owner issues.
  • Manage tasks and deliverables across small to large-size projects.
  • Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and to meet required SLAs.
  • Provide weekly report to the data center manager.
  • Cook up team resources to support project and delivery needs, including emergency projects, change management and maintenance window support, and potential off-hours and on-call needs.
  • Recruit and train data technicians to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
  • Host weekly staff meetings.
  • Drive compliance to Amazon performance management requirements.

Essential Requirements

  • Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed.
  • Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until assigned facility is operational.
  • Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and operational status of assigned facility.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of data center, network engineering, and/or systems engineering experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in management/team lead function.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional or military experience in an IT-related field (e.g. computer science, network engineering, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with fiber optic and copper cabling standards, testing equipment & troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Experience contributing to the definition and implementation of automation opportunities within an operations environment.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional or military experience in an IT-related field (e.g. computer science, network engineering, etc.).
  • Understanding of networking infrastructure topology.
  • Certifications in a relevant field (CCENT, Network+, CCNA).
  • Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience.
  • Knowledge of data center MEP Infrastructure: Power, Cooling & Facilities Management. Experience in data center Safety and Security measures.
  • ITIL Foundation, PMP, Lean, Six Sigma and/or Risk related certifications. Data Center related certification - CDCP/S/E, CDCMP/TP.
  • Linux certification and/or administration experience - RHCSA/RHCE, LPIC, Linux+

Benefits

This role supports data centers in various operational stages. The position may be assigned to a facility still under development, which could require travel to established locations for training until your designated site becomes fully operational.

Pay

Salary range for this role is $85,000 - $130,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
