About the role

As part of the Data Center Engineering Operations team, you will maintain and operate critical infrastructure systems to ensure they are prepared to stand up against any situation. AWS operates the world’s largest cloud computing portfolio, and as an Engineering Operations Technician II (EOT), you will help test and implement the newest technology and work practices to meet evolving market demands. This role involves working with the brightest minds globally, driving innovation, and making history in a dynamic and evolving industry.

Responsibilities

  • Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in data center facilities.
  • Manage projects of moderate complexity and assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • Perform rack installs, decommissioning, operational readings, and facility management.
  • Provide key performance indicators to senior engineers.
  • On-site management of contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with established practices, procedures, and local legislation.
  • Oversee maintenance and operations of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety procedures while performing work.
  • Perform basic support tasks such as ticketing systems, root cause analysis, change management, writing procedures, and using building management systems.
  • Maintain data center critical infrastructure to ensure 99.999% uptime of AWS’s cloud computing portfolio.
  • Support multiple locations/sites as needed.
  • Navigate job sites with uneven terrain and perform construction tasks while on a ladder.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 39 pounds unassisted; participate in group lifts for 40+ pounds.
  • Perform physical tasks including walking, using hands and fingers, handling or feeling, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing stairs, twisting, bending, working above shoulders, grasping, carrying, pushing, and pulling.

Effective May 15, 2017, logical access to the AWS GovCloud region is restricted to Amazon employees who are U.S. Citizens. GovCloud may not be accessed from outside of the United States.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance, or 2+ years of electrical facilities maintenance and 1+ years of mechanical facilities maintenance.
  • 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
  • Flexible work schedule including evenings, overnights, and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of data center engineering experience.
  • Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.
  • Vocational/technical training, an associate degree or above, or 4+ years of military experience.

Pay

Base salary range: $37.64 - $65.91 USD hourly (USA, OH, Hilliard).

Schedule

  • Shifts can be up to 12 hours and may rotate on a predefined schedule.
  • Some locations have on-call rotations.
