Data Center Electrical Engineer, Data Center Services
About the role
The Data Center Engineering team takes the physical design of our data centers into the future. Our lab mirrors a research and development department – cutting-edge strategies are born, tested and tested again. Along with a team of great minds, you take on complex topics like how we use power or how to run state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly facilities. You're a visionary who optimizes for efficiencies and never stops seeking improvements – even small changes that can make a huge impact. You generate ideas, communicate recommendations to senior-level executives and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians.
Responsibilities
- Define data center system-level product architecture and research and development, while helping to develop operations and maintenance procedures for systems and processes.
- Conduct engineering analysis and research designs and methods of data center equipment and facilities.
- Ensure designs and installations meet requirements (e.g., predicted cooling, structural, operational concerns, etc.).
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in mission critical facility design and construction.
- Experience in design, construction, and commissioning of utility electrical distribution systems in mission critical facility design and construction environments.
- Experience in electrical infrastructure.
Preferred qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering, Business or other relevant fields.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- Experience in design, construction, and commissioning of high-voltage substations, medium- or low-voltage electrical distribution systems, AC/DC systems, and associated power management or SCADA tools.
- Experience working with data center equipment and environments (e.g., switchgear, generators, transformers, controls, security monitoring systems, fire safety systems).
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (e.g., structural, civil, IT/telecom, security, mechanical, architectural), and in prefabrication or modular construction.
- Understanding of start-up and commissioning processes.
