Key Responsibilities
- Design Leadership: Act as the technical lead for electrical services, managing external consultants and contractors from initial concept design through to construction documentation.
- Client & RFP Support: Partner with the development team to handle complex RFPs, RFIs, and bespoke technical requests from hyperscale customer engineering teams.
- Risk & Quality Assurance: Conduct deep-dive design reviews of general contractor submissions to catch non-conformances, mitigate project risk, and review protection/grading studies.
- Commercial & Procurement Strategy: Scope, tender, and engage engineering consultancy services. Collaborate with preferred vendors to procure high-quality, cost-effective equipment within budget constraints.
- Lifecycle Optimization: Contribute to the feasibility stage via technical due diligence for site selection, and undertake post-delivery reviews to optimize energy efficiency and operational performance.
- Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to internal Project Managers and project administrators.
What We Are Looking For
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical or building services design and construction, with a explicit, heavy focus on data center infrastructure.
- Credentials: A licensed professional engineer (PE) or licensed electrical contractor (passed State of California test) is highly preferred.
- Technical Depth: Deep proficiency in Data Center Basis of Design (BOD), hyperscale/co-location operator requirements, and deciphering electrical protection and grading studies.
- Project Management Skills: Proven track record managing cross-functional teams, coordinating multiple consultant groups, and navigating complex contractual/negotiation environments.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of construction methodologies, estimating, cost-pricing, and cost report processes.
