Data Center Camera Installer
Position Summary
The Data Center Camera Installer is responsible for the installation, configuration support, testing, and maintenance of physical security camera systems within data center environments. This role installs IP-based surveillance cameras, associated cabling, mounting hardware, and supporting infrastructure while ensuring compliance with customer specifications, security standards, and company safety policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and mount IP security cameras, brackets, housings, and related surveillance equipment.
- Pull, route, terminate, label, and test CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cabling for camera systems.
- Install cable pathways including conduit, cable trays, J-hooks, and surface raceways as required.
- Install and connect cameras to network switches, patch panels, and power sources, including Power over Ethernet (PoE) systems.
- Assist with camera positioning, focusing, and field-of-view adjustments according to project requirements.
- Test camera functionality, verify network connectivity, and troubleshoot installation issues.
- Read and interpret blueprints, security drawings, floor plans, wiring diagrams, and installation specifications.
- Label all equipment and cabling according to customer standards and maintain accurate installation documentation.
- Cookordinate with project managers, security technicians, network teams, and other trades to complete installations on schedule.
- Maintain clean work areas and follow all data center cleanliness and security protocols.
- Comply with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and customer site requirements.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience installing low-voltage systems, structured cabling, security systems, or surveillance cameras preferred.
- A basic understanding of IP networking, Ethernet cabling, and Power over Ethernet (PoE).
- Ability to read installation drawings and technical documentation.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, ladders, and testing equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
- Ability to pass customer-required background checks and drug screenings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in mission-critical or hyperscale data center environments.
- Knowledge of CCTV, IP surveillance, and access control systems.
- Experience with camera manufacturers such as Axis, Hanwha, Bosch, Avigilon, or similar enterprise security platforms.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- BICSI Installer certification or equivalent low-voltage experience.
- Familiarity with structured cabling standards and best practices.

Work Environment
This position is performed in active construction sites and operational data centers where strict security, cleanliness, and safety protocols must be followed. Work may involve extended shifts, after-hours installations, or travel to customer locations. Employees are expected to maintain a professional appearance and perform all work with minimal disruption to mission-critical operations.
