About the role
The Database Migration Specialist / Database Architect will execute end-to-end DB2 Sailfish to Cloud Rack migration activities, including environment validation, data migration, intensive testing, and security/compliance assurance.
Responsibilities
- Establish data solutions and architecture for large, complex initiatives that align with the enterprise data architecture strategy and technology/platform decisions.
- Provide clear and concise responses to questions regarding the enterprise data architecture strategy.
- Contribute to multiple priorities in a matrixed environment with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Communicate effectively to influence agreement between partners and escalate items, as needed, to ensure execution activities remain on track.
- Ensure all relevant risk, financial, and compliance policies and standards are met.
- Create an inclusive and healthy working environment to resolve organizational impediments and blockers.
- Share enterprise data architectural principles, processes, and routines.
- Execute DB2 Sailfish to DB2 Cloud Rack migrations, including environment and configuration validation.
- Validate infrastructure, database configuration, network connectivity, and access controls.
- Perform functionality, performance, stress, scalability, and failover testing.
- Execute data migration, reconciliation, and integrity validation.
- Work closely with application, infrastructure, IBM, and security teams to resolve issues.
- Develop migration runbooks, validation reports, and sign-off documentation.
- Support cutover execution and post-migration stabilization.
Requirements
- 10+ years of overall experience.
- 5+ years of relevant technology experience.
Qualifications
Database Skills
- RDBMS: Oracle, DB2, Sybase (mandatory).
- NoSQL knowledge (e.g., Hadoop, Impala, Iceberg) optional.
- Experience maintaining/supporting very large database platforms with stakeholders.
Data Modeling
- Knowledge of data modeling, STAR/Snowflake schema, normalized and denormalized data models.
- Prior knowledge of data modeling tools like Power Designer and Erwin (preferred but not mandatory).
Database Application Development Skills
- Writing views and stored procedures.
- Strong concepts in creating end-to-end data pipelines.
- Scripting in shell and Python.
ETL
- Informatica mapping creation; using maps to move data between platforms.
ADS Management
- Foundational knowledge of data domain and ADS management.
- Data lineage and data analysis.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent Engineering.
Schedule
