About the role

Pratt Miller is looking for an experienced Data and Electronics Engineer to join its Competition Engineering Group. This role supports the Corvette Racing By Pratt Miller’s in-house race team, with both shop-based and trackside responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Vehicle Electronic Systems Design And Integration
    • Develop and specify harness, instrumentation, and electronic component requirements for system design
    • Responsible for device programming and setup
    • Develop and maintain system communication protocols and documentation
    • Manage supplier technical interactions
    • Develop and manage test requirements and planning when applicable
    • Manage necessary reporting and documentation
    • Develop operational SOPs
  • Maintenance Of The Vehicles Systems
    • Develop and maintain the operating configurations for the various systems
    • Manage associated documentation and distribution of updates
    • Inspect, install, calibrate, and modify vehicle electrical harnesses and instrumentation
    • Verify system operations
    • Manage inventory and location of systems across the programs
    • Track maintenance and component servicing and life cycles
  • Trackside / Support Execution
    • Race and test event support, including:
      • Installation of data systems
      • Operation and programming of data systems
      • Verification, maintenance, and replacement of instrumentation and electronics equipment
      • Data downloading and distribution
      • Telemetry monitoring
      • Troubleshooting and issue resolution
      • Data review related to vehicle system and instrumentation operation
      • Assisting in setup and teardown of equipment
      • Other activities suited to skill set
    • Reporting and documentation
    • Specific program support can expand beyond the above duties
  • Team Member Interactions
    • Interface heavily with primary suppliers and customer base
    • Collaborate with other groups within Pratt & Miller and externally to execute duties, including:
      • Organization, participation, and collaboration in meetings
      • Support and project-related travel
  • Additional Duties And Responsibilities
    • Support Pratt Miller initiatives, marketing events, and general development as necessary
    • Provide feedback on product needs and processes
    • Support Program Management Office on process developments and improvements

Requirements

  • BS in engineering or other advanced technical background
  • 2+ years of motorsports experience with a focus on vehicle electronics and controls systems
  • Experience with direct track and test support

Skills

  • Advanced engineering background in vehicle electronics and controls systems
  • Motorsport data acquisition system software and hardware
  • Extensive knowledge of CAN-based system programming, architecture, and operation
  • Experience in data system harness design, build, and maintenance
  • Proficiency with data acquisition system tools:
    • PI Toolbox
    • PI Workshop
    • Bosch WinDarab
    • Bosch RaceCon
    • MoTec
    • McLaren
    • Other related tools
  • Advanced experience in data processing:
    • Matlab
    • Excel
    • Other data processing tools
  • Basic knowledge of programming languages:
    • Simulink
    • C++
    • Visual Basic
    • Python
    • Other relevant languages

Work Environment

  • Stress may occur periodically
  • Long hours may be required at times
  • Travel required (50–100 days a year, varying by support needs)

Pay

Pay range: $82,900.00 - $134,300.00. The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Individual pay is determined by factors including the scope and responsibilities of the role, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
