About the role

The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is seeking a Full-Time Electronics Engineer serving as the Lead Systems Engineer for the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE), (NH-0855-03) to work for the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) in the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.

The mission of the AFLCMC Advanced Training Capabilities Division is to arm warfighters with advanced training capabilities to dominate evolving global threats. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a lead systems engineer for the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE).

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise for systems engineering that integrates technical processes to define and balance system performance, cost, schedule, risk, and human systems integration.
  • Work with customers across the AF Test and Training communities to capture, analyze, decompose and validate system requirements.
  • Define technology maturation, technical risk reduction and system integration activities.
  • Work with customers to establish V&V approaches and assessment criteria.
  • Serve as AF member of joint AF/Navy Enterprise Engineering Working Groups.

  • Must possess Engineering degree from ABET accredited institution
  • DAWIA Certification (if applicable)
  • Financial Management Statement (if applicable)
  • Active security clearance
  • This position is not centrally managed

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering from a school with a program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) [0801, General Engineering], OR Bachelor's degree with at least 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of these hours must be in mathematics and statistics, including differential and integral calculus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of a wide range of advanced multidisciplinary professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, equipment, and systems of engineering and efforts required to achieve and preserve operational safety, suitability, and effectiveness (OSS&E) in system or end-items.
  • Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structure, and operation of the DoD, Air Force, and organizations that govern, interface with, and/or influence systems acquisition, development, and/or sustainment; and knowledge of planning, programming, and budgeting cycles, financial systems, and restrictions on expenditure of funds.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, aeronautical, and materials engineering, modeling and simulation, hardware component and system testing, and flight and laboratory testing to assess interrelated requirements and impacts.
  • Broad knowledge and experience of related engineering disciplines such as systems engineering, computer science, electromagnetic phenomenology, etc., to assess weapons system capability.
  • Skill in organizing, leading and integrating the efforts of other experts and specialists is required to develop new concepts and approaches; solve very complex interdisciplinary problems, develop new policy; and define new programs/technical plans and requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to represent Division, Directorate, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, and the Air Force and to develop, present, and justify technical issues, points, policies, processes, and plans as necessary in serving on committees, working groups, etc.
