About the role

The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix (COM-P) is seeking a highly motivated candidate for the full-time position of Data and AI Researcher II in Dr. Peipei Ping’s laboratory. Our lab develops integrative omics and AI-driven data science approaches to uncover how genes, proteins, and their dynamic interactions shape cardiovascular function and disease, with the goal of transforming large-scale biological and clinical data into actionable insights for diagnosis, treatment, and scientific discovery.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of novel data analysis pipelines using machine learning and statistical methods.
  • Collaborate with biologists and clinicians to interpret complex omics data and translate findings into clinically relevant insights.
  • Develop and maintain databases and informatics tools to support research projects.
  • Present research findings at internal and external conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals.

Requirements

  • A PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with high-throughput omics data analysis, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics.
  • Strong programming skills in Python/R, proficiency with Linux, and familiarity with cloud computing platforms like AWS or Google Cloud.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
