Data Analytics Intern - Summer 2027
About the role
This candidate should have experience with management/manipulation of large data sets and familiarity with machine learning techniques for supervised and unsupervised learning. The analytical work will support a range of projects from technical problems in manufacturing. The work will have some focus on process data anomaly detection and dashboarding to assist engineers. It is expected that this person will, on occasion, create predictive tools that will enable both business and technical decisions. The work will involve devising graphical presentation methods to explain results to others. The candidate should have proficiency explaining model methods and predictions in terms of feature importance.

Requirements
- Pursuing a degree in a data science or statistical field. Preference will be given to graduate students in a related data science field.
- Data analysis experience using any mix of software including, but not limited to: Python, R, PowerBI
- Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2027 with a graduation date of December 2027 or later
- Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity
- Be willing to work at the posted job location
Qualifications
- Familiar with open-source tools for data analytics such as Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch
- Familiarity with neural networks, such as CNN, and decision trees
- Familiarity with outlier identification methods such as Isolation Forests
- Familiarity with SQL and PowerBI

Pay
The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
