Data Analytics Infrastructure Lead
About the role
Lead ALLETE’s Data Analytics Infrastructure team responsible for the enterprise data platform, data ingestion pipelines, Microsoft Fabric administration, Power BI platform administration, and AI-ready data capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, coach, prioritize, and develop the Data Analytics Infrastructure team while providing technical direction for enterprise analytics infrastructure, Microsoft Fabric administration, Power BI platform administration, data ingestion, and ETL operations.
- Lead the administration, configuration, testing, monitoring, and continuous improvement of analytics platform components, including Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Azure data services, gateways, workspaces, capacities, deployment pipelines, and related services.
- Oversee the design, maintenance, support, and operational reliability of enterprise data ingestion pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, Lakehouse architecture, data movement, access management, and platform performance.
- Lead incident management, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, capacity planning, change coordination, documentation, and operational readiness to ensure stable, secure, scalable, and cost-conscious analytics infrastructure.
- Define and reinforce standards for workspace governance, access control, data quality, metadata, lineage, source control, deployment practices, and supportable data platform operations in coordination with business, IT, security, infrastructure, and AI delivery partners.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, platform capabilities, licensing changes, and industry practices to strengthen ALLETE’s analytics infrastructure and AI-ready data foundation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or an equivalent field of study PLUS eight years or more related experience required. OR Bachelor’s degree PLUS eleven or more years of related experience.
- Experience administering Microsoft Fabric capacities, tenant settings, workspace governance, OneLake, Data Factory, Data Engineering, Data Warehouse, Real-Time Intelligence, or related Fabric workloads.
- Practical experience with GitHub, Azure DevOps, deployment pipelines, source control, PowerShell, Python, notebooks, or automation patterns for analytics infrastructure and data pipeline operations.
- Experience implementing metadata management, data lineage, role-based access, sensitivity labels, data quality controls, secure handling of protected data, and governed enterprise data practices.

Benefits
- The expected annual compensation range for this position is $106,000 - $133,000. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, and experience.

The expected annual compensation range for this position is $106,000 - $133,000.
