Data Analyst Specialist

About the role

The Data Analyst Specialist position within the Community Engagement and Supportive Services (CESS) / Illinois Welcoming Center focuses on transforming program and client service data into actionable insights for program leadership, funders, and agency executives. This role involves designing and maintaining reporting infrastructure, analyzing service utilization and client demographics, and ensuring data quality.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and automate recurring reports and dashboards for grant, contract, and internal performance reporting.
• Analyze program and client service data to identify trends and present findings to program leadership.
• Extract, join, and validate data across various systems to produce reliable reporting.
• Define and maintain data quality standards and conduct audits to correct systemic errors.
• Translate reporting requirements into data specifications and reconcile reported figures against source records.
• Develop and maintain performance metrics and KPIs for monitoring progress against contract deliverables.
• Support program staff and supervisors in designing intake forms, tracking tools, and documentation workflows.
• Prepare ad hoc analysis for grant applications, board reports, and community needs assessments.
• Protect confidential client and program information according to privacy regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or related field such as statistics, data analytics, public health, health informatics, social science, or business analytics.
• Two or more years of experience in data analysis, reporting, or program evaluation, preferably in nonprofit, behavioral health, healthcare, or human services settings.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup and reference functions, Power Query, and dataset structuring.
• Working proficiency in SQL, including writing queries to join multiple tables and aggregate results.
• Experience with a business intelligence or visualization platform (Power BI or Tableau).
• Experience with an electronic health record or client management system, particularly Qualifacts Credible.
• Experience preparing grant or government contract reporting and reconciling reported figures to source data.
• Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, data privacy, and ethical data collection practices.
• Successful completion of all required pre-employment background checks.
