Data Analyst (Austin)

About the role

The Data Analyst II position is located within the Adult Education & Literacy department at the Texas Workforce Commission. This role is critical to the successful implementation of a new data system.

Responsibilities

• Consult with internal and external customers to identify user needs.
• Compile and query data.
• Analyze data using standard statistical tools, methods, and techniques.
• Interpret results to identify significant differences in data.
• Clean and prune data to discard irrelevant information.
• Aid in developing methods for mitigating data issues and deploying these methods to correct issues.
• Aid in preparing technical reports to present and interpret data, identify alternatives, and make and justify recommendations on data revisions.
• Aid in identifying and interpreting data patterns and trends and assessing data quality.
• Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
• Establish and maintain standard work procedures governing the appropriate use of data.

Requirements

• One year of full-time experience in data science, business analytics, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field.
• Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
• Experience with data system implementation or migration projects.
• Proficiency with SQL for data querying and manipulation.
• Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Experience working with educational or public sector data.
