About the role
The Data Analyst II position is located within the Adult Education & Literacy department at the Texas Workforce Commission. This role is critical to the successful implementation of a new data system.
Responsibilities
- Consult with internal and external customers to identify user needs.
- Compile and query data.
- Analyze data using standard statistical tools, methods, and techniques.
- Interpret results to identify significant differences in data.
- Clean and prune data to discard irrelevant information.
- Aid in developing methods for mitigating data issues and deploying these methods to correct issues.
- Aid in preparing technical reports to present and interpret data, identify alternatives, and make and justify recommendations on data revisions.
- Aid in identifying and interpreting data patterns and trends and assessing data quality.
- Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
- Establish and maintain standard work procedures governing the appropriate use of data.
Requirements
- One year of full-time experience in data science, business analytics, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field.
- Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
- Experience with data system implementation or migration projects.
- Proficiency with SQL for data querying and manipulation.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Experience working with educational or public sector data.
