About the role

The Compton Spectrometer and Imager (COSI) is a mission selected by NASA for its Small Explorer program. The data analysis pipeline is being developed at Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) and the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley).

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of the data analysis pipeline and software tools for the COSI mission.
  • Work with the COSI Science Team to perform simulations and predictions for COSI science observations.
  • Develop and maintain Python and C++ based tools for raw data conversion, response generation, event reconstruction, calibration, and high-level analysis.

Requirements

  • A strong programming background, preferably in Python or C++.
  • A Doctoral Degree.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR), Foreign Nationals eligible for an Exchange Visitor J-1 visa status, or applicants for LPR, asylees, or refugees in the U.S. at the time of application with a valid EAD card and I-485 or I-589 forms in pending status.

Skills

  • Experience with Python and/or C++ programming.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and scientific computing.
  • Experience with scientific instrumentation and data processing.
