About the role
The Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) physicians and surgeons serve in critical roles providing medical care and sharing the love of Christ with those affected by disasters.
Responsibilities
- Provide pre-op, surgical, and post-op care to patients requiring treatment of the musculoskeletal system.
- Offer clinical care to patients in emergency and triage settings, during international DART medical responses.
- Assist in providing water, food, shelter, and medical care to disaster victims.
- Share the Good News of Jesus Christ with those in need.
Requirements
- Maintain a personal relationship with and be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
- Have a minimum of two years experience as a physician in a specialty setting.
- Complete accredited training as a physician specializing in relevant specialty.
- Be licensed in a Samaritan's Purse Affiliate Office location.
- Be available on short notice for immediate 3-4 week deployments, 1-2 times/year.
- Be able to work in unstable, insecure areas.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience: Post-resident with a minimum of two years experience as a physician in a specialty setting is required.
- Relevant clinical experience in specific field of practice within the last five years is required.
- Current active U.S. licensure is required.
- Able to serve within a very fast-paced environment, 7 days/week for extended hours while on deployment.
- Able to work as a member of a team, particularly cross-culturally.
- Demonstrated travel, volunteer or work experience in developing countries.
- Willingness to work in unstable, insecure areas.
- Teaching experience desirable, but not required.
