About the role
The Parks and Recreation Community Programs Worker provides customer service, program instruction, education, and guidance to various patrons. This position requires applicants to be 16 years of age or older.
Responsibilities
- Provides instruction of adult and/or youth group fitness and dance classes.
- Ares of instruction may include yoga, step aerobics, pool exercise, strength training, Pilates, Pound™, Zumba™, Insanity™ and other types of dance formats, as well as basic tumbling/gymnastic classes.
- Instructors must demonstrate proper techniques and methods for participants, observe participants, and inform them of corrective measures.
- Certification as an instructor and/or trainer in fitness area taught by a nationally recognized organization is preferred and 3-5 years’ experience is required.
- Current CPR certification also required.
- Instructors teaching a trademark and/or franchise type class (Zumba, Pound, Insanity) must hold a current License with that corporation.
Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Successful completion of a background check may be required.
- Maintain a collaborative and cooperative working relationship with elected and appointed officials, other City employees, other organizations, and the general public.
- Work in/at places where they are exposed to mechanical hazards.
- Work days, evenings, and weekends as required.
Qualifications
- Equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position may be considered.
Skills
- Basic First Aid certification may be required.
