About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Dance Team Coach with a strong knowledge of competitive dance and a focus on student-athletic achievement. The ideal candidate will be organized, flexible, able to take direction from the direct supervisor, and skilled at working with parents and the Booster Club.
Responsibilities
- Coach all levels and areas within the program.
- Enhance, improve, and maximize students' athletic skills required to compete at a high level.
- Lead an athletic program for sustained participation and success.
- Conduct off-season strength and speed training.
- Lead fundraising, organization, and other program tasks.
- Work with the Athletic Department to schedule games, officials, and transportation.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment for the entire program.
- Organize and oversee all program levels and areas of responsibility.
- Communicate with the Athletic Director to secure safe practice and competition facilities.
- Set the philosophy, programmatic instruction of sequential fundamentals, and proper conditioning to maximize the student-athlete experience.
- Plan practice sessions and competition strategies with the assistant coach to ensure the health and physical well-being of student participants.
- Coordinate with the Athletic Director for all in-season practices.
- Ensure all student participants comply with D300 and IHSA requirements, including current athletic physicals, Code of Conduct, fees paid, and academic eligibility prior to practice, tryouts, and competition.
- Model and instill values of sportsmanship and fair play, enforcing consequences for breaches.
- Attend all student-athlete practices and games, ensuring proper supervision at practices, games, and on school-provided transportation.
- Maintain and provide the Athletic Director with end-of-season individual and team records and statistics.
- Participate in a mandatory preseason parent meeting and head coaching meetings.
- Plan seasonal student-athlete recognition.
- Distribute and collect uniforms and equipment.
- Engage in personal professional development activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Requirements
- Previous Dance Team coaching experience is preferred.
- Ability to manage all levels and areas within the program.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Flexibility and ability to take direction from the direct supervisor.
- Experience working with parents and the Booster Club.
