Duties & Responsibilities
Work with Dance and Choreography Instructors to select appropriate musical accompaniment, and provide adaptations to align with specific exercises and/or techniques
Accompany modern dance and/or ballet classes with appropriate musical and stylistic considerations
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Music or equivalent professional training, education, and experience
One (1) year of experience playing for dance classes at the collegiate, professional, or pre-professional level
Knowledge of/ability to learn ballet terminology
Ability to sight-read provided music and improvise in various styles as needed
Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an hourly employee at VCU. - Preferred Qualifications: Three (3) years of experience playing for dance classes at the collegiate, professional or pre-professional level
Pay
$21-$23/hr
