Core Responsibilities
- Instruct and choreograph routines for games, assemblies, and competitions.
- Organize, schedule, and supervise daily practices, performances, and competitions.
- Conduct annual tryouts, including evaluations and team selection.
- Enforce school, district, and TSSAA rules, including academic eligibility and insurance.
- Manage team budget, fundraising, and travel for events.
Tennessee Specific Requirements
- TSSAA Compliance: Must be registered with the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA).
- Certification: Typically required to be a licensed teacher (minimum 100 days) or an approved non-faculty coach.
- Background Check: Must pass background checks as required by the local school district.
