Responsibilities
- Teach competitive dance fundamentals, strategies, and sportsmanship.
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, meets, travel, and related events.
- Attend and actively participate in all scheduled practices, meets (home and away), and team functions.
- Plan practices, develop routines, and conduct skill instruction.
- Maintain eligibility, safety, and conduct requirements as established by IHSA, the school, and district policies.
- Chaperone and supervise athletes at all competitive dance events (including practices, meets, games, etc.), maintain discipline and promote a positive team environment.
- Maintain a safe environment and report injuries promptly to appropriate staff.
- Accurately report scores and results on IHSA School Center website.
- Complete required paperwork, attendance logs, and communicate with parents and administration as needed.
- Attend coach meetings and required professional development as assigned by the athletic department.
Qualifications
- Previous high school dance coaching experience preferred.
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) Or ASEP Required.
Additional Expectations
- Available to work in the off-season.
- Foster academic achievement, positive citizenship, and school spirit among student-athletes.
- Assist with equipment management, set-up, and breakdown for practices and meets.
Compensation and Benefits for External Applicants
Individuals hired from outside CHSD 218 as seasonal coaches or activity sponsors receive only the contractual stipend for the assignment. Board-provided employee benefits (including health, dental, life insurance, leave, and participation in district retirement plans) are not available to external hires in these roles. For benefit eligibility, an individual must be a contracted district employee.
