Damage Prevention/SUE Field Technician
About the role
The Damage Prevention Specialist works as a liaison to the homeowner and/or contractor and the gas company. This role involves practicing safe dig practices in accordance to 811 dig laws, visiting active job sites in a company-provided vehicle to communicate safe dig practices, facilitating gas marking corrections and updates, providing quality checks on utility markings, accurately completing detailed documentation of daily activities, assisting in identifying marked utilities, structures, and maps in the field, performing operator-level maintenance on assigned company tools and equipment, and other tasks as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Practice safe dig practices in accordance to 811 dig law
- Visit active job sites in a company provided vehicle to communicate to contractors or homeowners about safe dig practices in accordance to 811 dig law
- Facilitate gas marking corrections and updates as needed
- Provide quality checks on utility markings
- Accurately complete detailed documentation of daily activities
- Assist in identifying marked utilities, structures and maps in the field
- Perform operator level maintenance on assigned company tools and equipment as required
- Other tasks as assigned
Requirements
- Experience with locating gas utilities required
- 1-2 years Damage Prevention or One Call / 811 experience
- Operator Qualifications or ability to obtain Operator Qualifications required
- Valid driver's license
- Work outdoors under the full range of weather conditions typically experienced throughout all seasons of the year
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Skills
- Strong communication skills
- Knowledge of 811 dig laws and best practices
- Proficiency in using company tools and equipment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
