Job Description As an Underground Utility Locate Technician, you'll help protect critical infrastructure by identifying and marking underground utility lines before excavation begins. Using computer based utility maps, specialized locating equipment, and your problem solving skills, you'll locate utilities such as gas, electric, telecommunications, and other underground lines. This is an active, hands-on position that combines technology, field work, problem-solving, and independence. Job Responsibilities Travel to assigned job sites to respond to routine utility locate requests, relocates, and emergency requestsUse mapping technology, utility records, and specialized locating equipment to identify underground utilitiesLocate and mark underground electric, gas, telephone, telecommunications, and other utility linesClearly mark utility locations using paint, flags, and other approved methods.Communicate utility locations and relevant information to excavators, contractors, and other appropriate personnelFollow company safety procedures and industry standards while working in the fieldMaintain accurate records and documentation of completed locate requestsParticipate in after hours on call rotation schedule when applicableDrive a company vehicle to and from assigned work locationsAll other duties assigned by manager Knowledge, Skills, And Attitude Positive, professional attitude and strong work ethicAbility to use a computer, smartphone, and other technologyValid driver's license in the applicable state of employmentAbility to work independently and manage assigned work throughout the dayWillingness to work overtime and occasional weekends when business needs require it Work Schedule Monday through Friday Full Time with the possibility of weekend work when duties cannot be performed within a normal work schedule.
