Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive material condition assessments, review, and assess damage control programs and preventive and corrective maintenance procedures
- Provide classroom and deckplate, on-the-job training to Sailors on proper and safe operations, maintenance, and management of combat systems onboard ships homeported in San Diego, Pacific Northwest, Hawaii, and Japan
- Travel up to 25% of the time in support of shipboard training, to include international travel
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent education
- 20+ years of experience as part of the damage control organization aboard a warship or military auxiliary
- Direct operational and maintenance experience, within the last five years, with damage control systems and equipment currently in use by the Navy
- Prior experience applying the current Navy damage control doctrine and practices
- Experience as maintenance and/or training staff with in-depth knowledge of the theory and workings of surface ship maintenance processes
Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess an active or current U.S. Government Secret clearance
- The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Must be able to maneuver on deckplates aboard ships in port, to include ascending and descending ladders.
- Absolutely required to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
