Duties And Responsibilities
- Affords assistance to the Grocery Manager in directing the Dairy Department operations.
- Serves as a supervisor and trainer for personnel.
- Assists in ordering, receiving, storing, and managing inventory.
- Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness through friendly and courteous service.
- Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques.
- Collaborates with the Grocery Manager to plan and organize merchandise requirements and special sales.
- Rotates and faces product, cleans and dusts shelves, processes and discards outdated and spoiled products, and prevents the sale of out-of-code products.
- Orders Dairy merchandise and trains on stocking and conditioning standards.
- Assists with "dry grocery" order writing and grocery stocking and conditioning.
- Manages backroom inventory, conditions, and standards.
- Supports grocery department merchandising and building displays.
- May serve as a backup cashier.

- The ability to maintain composure in various customer interactions is crucial.
- Must be friendly, courteous, proactive, and able to handle stress effectively.
- Requires the ability to judge and react to business activity.
- Utilizes cleaning supplies, chemicals, and safety cutters.
- Complies with all company policies regarding attendance, grooming standards, and dress codes.
- Frequently reaches, lifts, stacks, and maneuvers objects weighing up to approximately 80 lbs., within the range of floor level to overhead.
- Ability to push and pull fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
- Stands, walks, moves rapidly for long periods, bends, stoops, twists, and turns frequently.
- May climb ladders.
- Mental alertness is required for safe and accurate work activities and repetitive tasks.
- Knowledge of basic mathematics is necessary.
- Ability to learn inventory control, pricing, merchandising, and shipping and receiving procedures.
Physical Environment
- Frequent exposure to temperatures ranging from 35°F to -20°F while handling product in cold cases, coolers, and freezers.
- Exposure to varying temperatures while working in the loading and receiving area.
- Occasional exposure to outdoor environments with varying temperatures.
