Dairy Queen Shift lead

About the Role

The Shift Lead supports the restaurant’s daily operations and leads hourly team members during assigned shifts. Working with the General and Assistant Managers, this role ensures efficient restaurant operations and an exceptional guest experience. The Shift Lead must be proficient in all crew-level positions and serve as a role model in service, cleanliness, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage assigned areas of the restaurant during scheduled shifts.
• Ensure proper staffing and organization according to shift schedules through task delegation, break rotations, and job assignments.
• Supervise team members to maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and service.
• Assist in onboarding and training new crew members in all areas of restaurant operations.
• Provide coaching and feedback to hourly employees to support ongoing development and performance improvement.
• Ensure all guest service standards are met or exceeded, including quality, value, and cleanliness.
• Handle minor guest complaints professionally and escalate serious concerns to management.
• Support in-store promotions and marketing efforts through team communication and guest engagement.
• Complete shift-based cash handling procedures and accountability reports accurately and on time.
• Foster a positive work environment by promoting teamwork, respect, and open communication.
• Maintain consistent communication with management regarding shift performance, employee concerns, and operational issues.
• Perform duties of all hourly, non-management positions as needed.
• Assist with special projects or tasks assigned by management.
• Serve as a dependable point of contact and decision-maker during shift operations.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, operational standards, and food safety regulations.
• Lead by example in personal appearance, punctuality, and professional conduct.
• Contribute to a cooperative and efficient work environment that promotes employee morale and productivity.
