Dairy Manager

About the role

The Dairy Manager oversees the Dairy Department in one of the most visited departments in Sprouts Farmers Market stores. This role involves managing sales and profits, directing clerks, ensuring product presentation and sanitation, processing and stocking products, providing customer service, controlling inventory, engaging and evaluating team members, and leading a team to deliver exceptional experiences.

Responsibilities

• Give direction to clerks in the Dairy Department and oversee presentation and sanitation standards.
• Process and stock products according to Sprouts dairy standards.
• Deliver outstanding customer service.
• Provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Dairy Department.
• Control inventory to recommended stock levels using proper ordering techniques.
• Remove out-of-code items and ensure proper product rotation to control freshness.
• Make price changes within the department.
• Engage and evaluate team members through coaching, feedback, and one-on-one development discussions.
• Make recommendations on merit increases via completing bi-annual performance reviews.
• Attend and participate in in-store meetings.
• Recruit, hire, and make promotion/transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager.
• Exercise independent judgment to address Team Member concerns.
• Take and document corrective actions when needed, including coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, suspension, or termination.
• Create and adjust schedules and staffing levels to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency.
• Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age with a minimum of 2 years' retail grocery experience.
• Good communication skills and the ability to give and take direction in a team environment.
• The ability to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• A working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
• An outgoing and friendly behavior along with a positive attitude towards Team Members and customers.
• The ability to answer phones and take special orders.
• The ability to stand for up to 3 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift.
• The ability to perform tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, finger dexterity, talking, hearing, and operating controls.
• The ability to adhere to safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations and achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit.
