About the role
The Dairy Manager oversees the Dairy Department in one of Sprouts Farmers Market's most visited stores. This role involves managing sales and profits, directing clerks, ensuring product presentation and sanitation, processing and stocking products, providing customer service, controlling inventory, and leading a team.
Responsibilities
- Give direction to clerks in the Dairy Department while overseeing presentation and sanitation standards.
- Process and stock products according to Sprouts dairy standards.
- Deliver outstanding customer service.
- Provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Dairy Department.
- Control inventory to recommended stock levels by using proper ordering techniques.
- Remove out-of-code items and ensure proper product rotation to control freshness.
- Engage and evaluate team members through coaching, feedback, and one-on-one development discussions.
- Make recommendations on merit increases via completing the bi-annual performance review process.
- Regularly attend and participate at in-store meetings.
- Recruit, hire, and make promotion/transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager.
- Exercise independent judgment to address Team Member concerns.
- Take and document corrective actions when needed, including coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, suspension, or termination when needed.
- Create and adjust schedules and staffing levels to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency.
- Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members.
Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age with a minimum of 2 years' retail grocery experience.
- Good communication skills and the ability to give and take direction in a team environment.
- The ability to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- A working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
- An outgoing and friendly behavior along with a positive attitude towards Team Members and customers.
- The ability to answer phones and take special orders.
- The ability to stand for up to 3 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift.
- The ability to perform tasks such as standing, walking, lifting up to 5 lbs., vertically transferring trays up to 5 lbs., vertically/horizontally transferring items up to 40 lbs., and cleaning and sanitizing work areas.
- The ability to adhere to safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations, and achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit.
