D.O.T. Field Compliance Specialist

About the role

The US Pipeline Safety Compliance team is expanding to support DOT pipeline compliance within the US Natural Gas business unit. This position will provide regulatory compliance support and guidance for an identified operating region.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall support and guidance to ensure documented adherence to state and federal regulations for 49 CFR 191, 192 and 193 as well as TC Energy internal programs and processes.
• Lead and participate in Federal and State inspections for their respective Region.
• Communicate regulatory interpretations to TC Energy business unit management team.
• Represent TC Energy with regulatory agencies during informal conferences and formal hearings.
• Establish and maintain relationships across business unit stakeholders and with external regulatory bodies.
• Support on-site and Emergency Operations Command calls for emergency response and associated exercises.
• Identify process improvements and best practices observed in the field or recommended by others and ensure implementation.
• Support and disseminate changes to various DOT compliance programs.

Requirements

• 10 years of experience in DOT Regulatory Compliance.
• Relevant post-secondary education.
• Strong knowledge of 49 CFR 191, 192 and 193 regulations.
• Excellent computer skills including the use of Microsoft software (Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint and SharePoint).
• Strong knowledge of SAP.

Preferred Qualifications

• Related experience in the oil, gas, regulated utility or power generation industry.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and exert influence with a diverse group of people.
• High degree of initiative and ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.

Skills

• Knowledge of 49 CFR 191, 192 and 193 regulations.
• Excellent computer skills including the use of Microsoft software.
• Strong knowledge of SAP.
