D.H. Lescombes Bistro Host

Responsibilities

• Graciously greets visitors at the front entrance
• Provides a warm welcome and an explanation of our wine service and floor plan
• Takes guest information and quotes wait times to guests accurately when tables are not immediately available
• Assists guests with reservations on the telephone; enters reservation information into the system
• Cleans, organizes, and stocks menus at the host area
• Answers phone and answers questions concerning the menu and the restaurant
• Interacts with guests as they arrive and as they leave to ensure a positive experience
• Observe tables and keep track of clean, dirty, and occupied tables
• Guide our guests to wines they enjoy
• Set up and clean up daily operations and special events
• Stock wine and retail merchandise
• Accurately perform daily wine inventory and money handling procedures
• Promote the sale of wine and non-wine products
• Describes wines, winemaking techniques, winery history, and provides general information
• May be assigned other tasks or be asked to participate in other activities, both onsite and offsite, as needed

• Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• The ability to build rapport and influence
• Quick thinking and problem-solving abilities
• Knowledge of award-winning wines and wine in general
• Ability to describe wines, winemaking techniques, winery history, and provide general information
