Cytotechnologist PRN Per Diem - Flexible Schedule

About the role

This Per Diem Cytotechnologist position is based onsite at Ascension St Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS. It is a casual/per diem role with a flexible schedule, allowing candidates to work as needed by the business between 6am - 11pm, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

• Screen and evaluate gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens for possible malignant or related abnormal conditions.
• Screen liquid-based cytology (both manual and imaged) and conventional slides.
• Perform microscopic evaluation of cytological specimens following laboratory procedures and policies.
• Ensure proper documentation of workload recording, including screening and non-screening activities as required by CLIA and laboratory guidelines.
• Maintain accuracy and integrity in the performance and reporting of results.
• Meet slide screening requirements per standard operating procedure.
• Finalize testing results in the computer accurately and timely.
• Provide backup for cytology processing and other tasks as needed.
• Comply with all safety, infection control, and HIPAA policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university.
• Successful completion of an accredited Cytology program.
• ASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) Certification.
• Must pass slide screening requirements and annual CAP proficiency test.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working in Cytology.
• ThinPrep and SurePath certifications.
• Experience with automated and non-automated testing.

Skills

• Demonstrated understanding of Cyto preparation techniques.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS).
• Ability to work independently or within a team.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must pass a standardized color vision screen.
