Cytotechnologist PRN Per Diem - Flexible Schedule

About the role
This Per Diem Cytotechnologist position is based onsite at Ascension St Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS. It is a casual/per diem role with a flexible schedule, allowing candidates to work as needed by the business between 6am - 11pm, Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
- Screen and evaluate gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens for possible malignant or related abnormal conditions.
- Screen liquid-based cytology (both manual and imaged) and conventional slides.
- Perform microscopic evaluation of cytological specimens following laboratory procedures and policies.
- Ensure proper documentation of workload recording, including screening and non-screening activities as required by CLIA and laboratory guidelines.
- Maintain accuracy and integrity in the performance and reporting of results.
- Meet slide screening requirements per standard operating procedure.
- Finalize testing results in the computer accurately and timely.
- Provide backup for cytology processing and other tasks as needed.
- Comply with all safety, infection control, and HIPAA policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university.
- Successful completion of an accredited Cytology program.
- ASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) Certification.
- Must pass slide screening requirements and annual CAP proficiency test.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in Cytology.
- ThinPrep and SurePath certifications.
- Experience with automated and non-automated testing.
Skills
- Demonstrated understanding of Cyto preparation techniques.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS).
- Ability to work independently or within a team.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must pass a standardized color vision screen.
