Cytotechnologist - Pathology - Part Time, Days (Mercy Ftizgerald)

About the role

Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is looking for a Cytotechnologist to join our team. Schedule: Part-time, day shifts.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, stains, mounts, and studies cells of the human body to detect evidence of cancer, abnormalities, and other pathological conditions, following established standards and guidelines.
• Prepares and examines microscopic slides from specimens of blood, scrapings, or other bodily exudates.
• Fixes and stains the slides to preserve specimen and enhance visibility of cells under the microscope.
• Works closely with the pathologist to report abnormalities.
• Works to produce lab tests in an efficient organized manner.
• Actively adheres to the department's STAT protocol.
• Is skilled at assigning appropriate priority to samples received.
• Microscopically screens all slides, submitting appropriate slides to the pathologist for review.
• Ensures that all technical and administrative duties relevant to Cytology are performed in accordance with all regulatory and accrediting agencies.
• Recognizes the importance of accurate patient identification and specimen labeling and adheres to the Laboratory Patient Identification Policy and Specimen Re-Labeling Policy.
• Prepares solutions and reagents used in conducting tests.
• Efficiently and accurately performs assigned analytical testing using independent judgment as appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned/required by manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree
• CT (ASCP) or eligible or equivalent credentials
