About the role

Responsibilities

• Receive and evaluate cytology specimens to ensure positive sample identification and appropriateness.
• Process gynecological, non-gynecological, and fine needle aspirations slides for diagnostic evaluation by cytopathology technologists and pathologists.
• Utilize the pathology computer system to provide accurate information for testing, tracking, and reporting.
• Receive specimens or slides, assess acceptability, and accession cytopathology cases into the pathology information system.
• Process gynecological and non-gynecological specimens and fine needle aspirations slides for diagnostic evaluation by the cytotechnologists and pathologists.
• Maintain appropriate department supply inventory.
• Sort vials for testing sent to reference labs.
• Recognize, document, and resolve specimen identification errors.
• Store specimens appropriately.
• Operate and maintain department equipment as required.
• Prepare cell blocks for Histology.
• File and retrieve slides and requisitions.

Requirements

A high school diploma is required, along with 1-2 years of previous job-related experience.

Pay

$20.00 - 25.00 per hour, with actual compensation varying based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.

Schedule

Part-time position, 20 hours per week, 3 days per week, 8:00am - 4:30pm, no weekends.
