Cytology Technical Specialist/UKHC

Duties

• Perform cytology case accessioning, processing and gross dissection of small core biopsies.
• Assist in ROSE procedures for FNA / Core Biopsy touch preps independently by using the Mikroscan system.
• Stain and cover slip cytology specimen slides.
• Maintain laboratory supplies.
• Dispose of old specimens.
• Identify and resolve labeling/identification discrepancies.

Additional Duties

• Ensure and maintain the confidentiality of patient information and other business information in accordance with HIPAA and other compliance standards.
• Comply with established UK Healthcare Values and other established policies, including but not limited to compliance, quality, and safety.

Qualifications

• Previous ROSE procedures and Mikroscan system preferred.
• Knowledge of laboratory practices and procedures required.
• Must meet regulatory requirements to perform high complexity laboratory testing.
• Must be a team player with excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
