Responsibilities
- Perform FISH analysis, which includes analysis and imaging of digitized images
- Cytogenetic analysis of metaphase spreads via computerized images
- Review cytogenetic cases via computerized images and documents
- Summarize test results utilizing ISCN nomenclature
- Distinguish between normal and abnormal test results
- Maintain equipment, software, and applications to ensure proper functionality
- Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
- Report any and all problems to the general supervisor in a timely manner
- Collaborate with general supervisor on protocol/policy development and review
- Provide feedback to senior technologists on technical matters
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
- ASCP certification in Cytogenetics (ASCP CG)
- 1 year or more experience in FISH and Chromosomes for Oncology Cytogenetics
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years or more experience with cytogenetic analysis of metaphase spreads via computerized images
Additional Job Standards
- In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
- High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Able to work remotely effectively as required in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with a demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands
Pay
$25-$45/hour
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
