About the role
We are seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on administrative and operational tasks to support our cybersecurity infrastructure, allowing our engineering team to focus on proactive initiatives. The position involves managing a ticket queue, responding to customer requests, and performing administration for firewalls, web proxies, and email gateways. This is not a Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst role and does not involve threat hunting or SIEM monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Work an assigned ticket queue to respond to customer requests for firewall rule updates, proxy changes, and troubleshooting.
- Perform administration for firewalls, web proxies, and email gateways.
- Manage firewall objects, including creation, updates, and approvals.
- Handle access requests for applications, URLs, and file shares.
- Administer endpoint security tools such as CrowdStrike, Carbon Black, Trellix, and Microsoft Defender.
- Manage proxy and Zero Trust technologies, including Zscaler (ZIA + ZPA), for enterprise proxy management and ticket workflows.
- Administer email security with Proofpoint and cloud security policies in Azure, including Network Security Groups (NSG) and Application Security Groups (ASG).
- Provide break/fix support for allow-listed applications.
Requirements
- Proficient in managing firewalls (Checkpoint is preferred, but other technologies are considered).
- Experience with endpoint management tools such as Crowdstrike, CarbonBlack App Control, or Trellix ePO/Solidcore.
- Familiarity with email security systems, such as Proofpoint.
- Knowledge of cloud security policies, specifically Azure Policy (NSG, ASG).
- Experience with ticketing systems like ServiceNow.
- Experience in an IT support role that involves collaboration with business users.
- Understanding of networking principles, including the TCP/IP stack, routing, ports, and services.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solutions or architecture.
- Automation experience using Ansible or scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
- Broader security technology exposure across endpoint, email, proxy, and Azure environments.
