Cybersecurity Engineer III
About the role
Join a dynamic team supporting the NIWC PAC Information Technology Management Support Services contract as a Cybersecurity Engineer III. This role is vital in investigating, responding to, and reporting on cybersecurity incidents. You'll maintain cybersecurity monitoring operations, perform incident triage, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend effective remediation strategies. Your proactive threat hunting and root cause analysis will help safeguard critical systems, ensuring stakeholders are informed and systems resilient.
Responsibilities
- Investigate, respond to, and report on cybersecurity incidents
- Maintain cybersecurity monitoring operations
- Perform incident triage
- Identify vulnerabilities
- Recommend effective remediation strategies
- Proactively hunt for threats and conduct root cause analysis
- Ensure critical systems are secure and resilient
- Inform stakeholders about security status and actions taken
Requirements
- Secret security clearance with IAT III certification (e.g., CASP+, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH)
- Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (preferred)
- 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity or incident response, with at least 3 years hands-on with the Elastic Stack
- Expertise in cybersecurity monitoring, incident response, threat hunting, and vulnerability assessment
- Proficiency with SIEM tools, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and network security tools
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on root cause analysis and risk assessment
