Northrop Grumman · Oklahoma City, OK · 5 days ago
On-siteEngineering$179k–$329k/yrFull-time

About the role

This position supports all Aeronautics Systems products at the system level, focusing on advanced aircraft systems comprised of multiple hardware/software subsystems. The role will collaborate across programs and sites with engineering, digital transformation, cybersecurity, and anti-tamper (AT) teams to define and institutionalize sector wide approaches to cyber and AT threat and design modeling in a digital engineering ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Set the standards for modeling cybersecurity and anti-tamper vulnerabilities and protections in the digital engineering ecosystem at the system level, where the system is comprised of multiple hardware/software subsystems.
  • Define and institutionalize methods to model system interfaces (hardware, software, and human) with multi level security considerations, including how those interfaces may be exploited by sophisticated adversaries.
  • Define system level cybersecurity and anti-tamper requirements, and provide subject matter expert leadership for appropriate allocation and decomposition of these requirements to lower level subsystems.
  • Define sector wide standards, patterns, and best practices for implementing cybersecurity and anti-tamper in a digital engineering ecosystem, including integration with MBSE, digital thread, and digital twin environments.
  • Develop, mature, and standardize security related MBSE constructs, models, and analysis methods for assessing vulnerabilities and security risks of system architecture designs in the digital modeling environment.
  • Lead the incorporation of AI/ML enabled cyber analysis into NGAS modeling efforts, including the design and deployment of advanced digital tools and workflows (e.g., AI/ML analytics, automated workflows, rules based model checks) that leverage the digital ecosystem to provide next level cybersecurity and AT protections for aircraft systems.
  • Work in close collaboration with the all stakeholders to establish, validate, and deploy these advanced tools and processes across the NGAS portfolio, ensuring consistency, scalability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide direct or consulting technical leadership on cyber and AT threat and design modeling statement of work for programs spanning early advanced development, EMD, production, and sustainment.
  • Lead or participate in independent technical review teams focused on cyber and AT modeling, uncover and resolve complex challenges, and present findings and recommendations to program and executive leadership.
  • Serve as a spokesperson for the company’s technical capabilities and future direction related to cyber/AT threat and design modeling, including preparation and presentation of technical briefings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Influence technology roadmaps and investment strategies in cyber/AT modeling, digital engineering, and enabling tools to maintain a state of the art capability and keep NGAS at the forefront of industry practice.
  • Attract new business with existing and new customers by supporting capture, proposal preparation, and concept development activities where cyber and AT modeling are key discriminators.
  • Drive knowledge sharing, coaching, and mentoring across the engineering workforce to build depth and breadth in cyber/AT threat and design modeling competencies and to grow the next generation of technical leaders in this discipline.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, and/or PhD in a STEM related field (e.g., Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity) and robust industry related experience; typically 20 years’ experience with a BS, 18 years’ experience with an MS, or 16 years’ experience with a PhD in increasingly responsible technical roles.
  • Deep technical expertise in cybersecurity and/or anti tamper for complex systems, including threat modeling, vulnerability assessment, and/ or design of protective measures at the system level.
  • Experience applying model based systems engineering (MBSE) or digital engineering approaches to represent system architectures, interfaces, requirements, and behaviors.
  • Experience defining and flowing down system level cybersecurity and/or anti tamper requirements, and collaborating with multi disciplinary teams to decompose and implement those requirements at subsystem/component levels.
  • Experience in developing, standardizing, and deploying methods, tools, and best practices for security analysis within digital models across multiple programs or product lines.
  • Experience in leading cross functional teams, influence without direct authority, and communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non technical stakeholders.
  • A current U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or higher), with a background investigation completed or updated within the last 5 years, or be on Continuous Evaluation.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business need.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
