What cool stuff does this job do?

  • Investigates moderately complex security incidents and performs root cause analysis.
  • Monitors MCCCD's networks and systems, identifying and thwarting security breaches and anomalous activity.
  • Analyzes security alerts and telemetry from various tools to identify and validate potential threats.
  • Performs vulnerability scans and recommends remediation strategies.
  • Researches and analyzes emerging cybersecurity threats and trends, enhancing the District’s security posture.
  • Evaluates network and system configurations against best practices and recommends hardening strategies.

  • 20% – Continuous Monitoring & Triage
  • 20% – Log & Alert Analysis
  • 15% – Vulnerability Management
  • 10% – Proactive Threat Research
  • 5% – Security Hardening & Configuration
  • 5% – Related Duties as Assigned

To be considered I need to have...

  • A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field and two (2) years of technical experience in the support of networks, systems, telecommunications, and/or technology security.
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or certifications sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
  • Experience with incident response activities and log analysis.
  • Experience with security tools and technologies such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, DLP, and endpoint security solutions.
  • Experience with proactive threat hunting.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, NIST, or ISO.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP), or GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC).
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell to automate or analyze security data.
